From: San Diego - Deep Within The State of CONFUSION!
I just had to install one under my new Thunder AVS carb. Eliminating my warped and worn Qjet got rid of a lot of issues and gas smell from the car.
But it also introduced a new problem: the car ran VERY bad after it was good and hot. I installed a 3/8 fabric spacer under the carb and put Summit Racing's foil wrap insulation over the pressure part of the fuel line and all is well now.
I run a full height 14x3 K&N air filter and the '76 hood clears by 1/8 inch or so at the very front but I've not had the air cleaner break through the hood yet!
I have a '69 with a Victor Jr and a Holley Carb insulator spacer. I milled the carb pad about 1/2" on the intake to allow use of the stock SB hood. I wanted to keep the bowls from perculating.
