PS steers hard when not moving
When sitting still it turns hard. When rolling it steers fine.
No leaks, Fluid level is fine.
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance,
JU
if so is it possible that your PS pump was replaced by one with a larger pully at some time?
not sure if this makes sense but it sounds like the PS isnt turning fast enough at low rpms

Hope that helps. I really wasn't trying to be so flippant with my original response but I can see that it really came across that way!

They were the same even after one was rebuilt and the other replaced...unless it is not working when moving or making unusual noises, I wouldn't worry about it.
I added more fluid...(over the cold mark when cold) I ran the steering lock to lock a few times and drove it around a while and stopped and turned the wheel and it's better!
I'm afraid of blowing a hose by overfilling it too much!
I pulled my receipts and it was back in '01 when I replaced the valve and hoses....wow time flys, I owned it for 15 years now

Can anyone back me on this one?
I was told by Cardone remanfactured parts that it sounds like either a sticking flow valve in the ps pump or air. And that I should try removing the pressure side nut fitting on the pump, pull out the flow valve & polish the surface w/ fine emery cloth. Wash it off, reinstall it & make sure it moves in & out freely. If that doesn't work try to vacuum bleed the system.
I removed the pressure hose at the pump and at first I simply used a cotter pin to push the valve and found that the valve did feel like it is sticking. It did not slide back and forth easily. I checked the valve in the old original pump and the valve in the old pump did slides freely. So I simply took the valve from inside the old pump and placed it in the new pump. I really wanted to just take the pump in and get a refund, but I thought I would try changing the valve just to see if it made a difference. Well, changing the vavles did make a big difference. It reduced the pusation about 80%. When I reported that information back to the remanfacturing company rep., we both agreed to run the car like it is for a few weeks to see if the condition improves. Well, it has been a few weeks and nothing has changed.
At this point, I am thinking about returning the pump for a full refund and going out and buying an AC Delco remanfactured pump.
In researching this problem I have found that not all ps pumps are remanufactured the same. Here's the info directly from the AC Delco website. http://www.acdelco.com/
