Have just come home after a run and was admiring the engine bay lovingly as you do...just a quickey...the 2 vac hoses that disappear through the firewall behind the brake cylinder....are they the ones that go to the lightswitch and if so....would swapping them around cause any problems?
Reason I ask is that my headlights work on the over ride switch but not on the headlight switch ( raise and lower ) and I just wondered if swapping them would prove if the switch was faulty or if the lines were just crossed....TIA.
Thanks Carl, so if the two hoses were switched, ie the one that goes to the overide ( and the relays ) and the one that goes to the lightswitch ( from the manifold )...would that cure my problem or prove the switch to be faulty?....Damn I wish my Vette was in a garage out back....sadly 3 miles away so even the simplest of tasks is a PITA!
I don't know what year your vette is, but on my 69 it does make a difference. I just replaced all the hoses and one of the problems I had was that the hoses to the light switch were reveresed. Switching them fixed the problem.
I also have the vacuum wiper door and so things may be different than your vehicle, but it doesn't take but a few minutes to switch the hoses and see if it fixes your problem.
Good luck......the vacuum system can be a royal PITA.
carl , your dia seems to be how to hook the headlight sys without hooking up the wiper door half of it? which is exactly what I'm going to do , no plans on the wiperdoor @ this point , but sure would be nice to have headlights pop up on command

Cruz-n69, so what was your problem? did your lights raise or lower before the switching of pipes on either the overide or the main switch OR did they not raise/lower at all?
When the hoses were reversed, I got no up, no down......nothing worked. When I switched them around up and down worked like new. I should have put that in my first reply. Sorry....
ok guys I used the dia "carl-a" posted as soon as I hooked the hose up , my headlights poped right up , light switch in off position , i tried to pull overide switches , turn headlights on , but lights stayed in up position , i finally had to unhook the hose and pull lights down by hand , any ideas ?

I have had my '69 since '76 and have travelled over 142,000 miles and once getting the all systems fully operational, I have only had one headlight actuator go out and the wiper parked valve give up. I don't consider that too much of a PITA!
