Default 73 Differential ID?

Hey all
I was just readingYellow 71's thread on rear suspension

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1404587

And noticed the numbers stamped on his diff housing.

My 73 has "muskegon brake" cast into the cover.

This is my second 1973 and I dont recall seeing this on my first one either.
Anybody know if this is an original cover?
Thanks

I believe thats a reproduction Heavy Duty rear cover sold by most
of the Corvette vendors. It should be of heavier construction in the
area where the stock covers usually cracked.

Hmmmm ????
I wonder what happened
Believe it or not, the original owner was a little old lady ( well I do know she is old now, how little, I dont know )

I do not know the ratio and would really like to know what it is.
I can tell you that at 70 MPH it turns 2,600 rpm.

Thanks

Among others there was a 3:08 AND 3:36 offered in 73. Sure sounds
like a 3:08. If Your courious look on bottom of rear end housing on
the flange where rear cover bolts on. Should be 2 letters along with
some numbers stamped into housing. The letters denote ratio, AW is
3:08 , AX or LR is for 3:36.

Bob, the lower "ears" on the diff cover are notorious for breaking. Usually around the bolt holes. That's when they came out with the heavy duty cover like you have now.

Well, the letters say LR which would make it a 3:36
I cant see that bieng correct with 2,600 RPM @ 70 mph and 3,500 rpm @ 100 MPH

Perhaps it was rebuilt to different specs somewhere during its life
