Default $1000

The wife has autorized the use of $1000 to use on my 1980 L82 . I have to get a trans leak (pump seal)fixed and I need some ideas on performance upgrades.

Better flowing exhaust and a different cam. Personally, I like the sound of a loopy cam. Sounds mean. Good luck and I hope we see some photos and hear about the progress.

Go out to Summitracing.com & get a set of their iron heads, an Edelbrock Performer intake, a MSD HEI upgrade kit, a Summit cam/lifter set, and gaskets. You can get this for your K-buck. Search this forum & find all info on Q-Jets & tune yours up. Start looking for Vette friends that are upgrading their old dual exhaust to headers/sidepipes or larger pipes. They'll probably give you the old stuff if you help out. This will get you some pep & make the ride more enjoyable.

$1000 can go a long way if you get your parts at MAPS.

Take my advice and stay out of Summit. I was in there the other day and came out 20 minutes and $2900 later. Spending $1000 in there will just make you mad!!

GMPP350/330 horse, Edelbrock performer rpm for Vortec heads, gasket set, intake bolts. And that's it. Look for my post in the general section on the motor swap. You'll see why I had to change the motor. The one that came in the car was clapped out to say the least and worst of all it was a 305 which is no longer on the premisis!

You got rid of the 305, you may have been able to outrun the
diesel VW Golf with that, Don't know why you would want anymore
power LOL.

SJNGRADY Get rid of as much of the stock exhaust as GA will
allow and still get your car inspected, throw it all in the trash if
you can and get set of 1 5/8 tube headers. and a good mandrel
bent 2 1/2 exhaust. 64 cc chamber heads to bump up your comp.
recurve the dist.

Default All good stuff

Thanks for all the input. It looks like I will start with a full new exhaust sytem and then the intake! Any recomendations on carb/intake combo? I plan on keeping stock cam (for now)

I have had holleys, edelbrock performers and quadrajets (also autolite on my old rustangs) and am now ordering a mighty demon (BG).......Luck with all carbs has been mediocre.........my edel 600 was pretty solid, my edel 750 was a PITA, 2 different holley 600cfm's (4160 i think) also had tuning issues----(sometimes they were great, other time they sucked)......Now looking for a higher end adjustable carb...........for yours i would consider keeping your quadrajet with an "overhaul" and add a performer rpm (that works with q-jets) intake.........the rest goes for beer
