OK, let the flaming begin IMO do not waste your money on headers. True duals are worth the money, but if your motor is going to remain relatively stock then headers will not help. The rams horn exhaust manifolds will work just as well with free flowing mufflers. Put on a good intake & a distributor kit. Take the rest & buy a bottle of Balvenie Portwood & a few CAOs & enjoy.
I have had holleys, edelbrock performers and quadrajets (also autolite on my old rustangs) and am now ordering a mighty demon (BG).......Luck with all carbs has been mediocre.........my edel 600 was pretty solid, my edel 750 was a PITA, 2 different holley 600cfm's (4160 i think) also had tuning issues----(sometimes they were great, other time they sucked)......Now looking for a higher end adjustable carb...........for yours i would consider keeping your quadrajet with an "overhaul" and add a performer rpm (that works with q-jets) intake.........the rest goes for beer
I dealt with Holleys when I had MOPARS, I could not stand them. I had great success with Carters. I am happy with the Q-Jet and will probably take your advice on the intake setup.
