Default Float Problems

1977 L-48 Rochester M4MC

I opened up my carb to fix an old bogging problem and I noticed the float was not adjusted to specs. I adjusted it properly and it helped my problem...but some bogging still occured during instantaneous acceleration. Due to the current behavior of my car I am assuming that I should adjust my float again in order to eliminate the problem completely. Am I correct in this assumption or should I be looking elsewhere for problems? One worry I have is that I didn't truly adjust the float to where it should be because I have not mastered the art of float adjustment (the process seems kind of subjective to me). Also, is bogging during instantaneous acceleration due to a float that is adjusted too close to the top of the carburetor or one adjusted too deep into the carb?

Could be in the vac. for the secondaries. If it's not right, your secondaries will open too quickly, causing a big rush of air with insufficient gas to feed it. This will create a lean condition and a bog....There is an adjustment screw on the RH side of the carb to adjust it, but I can never get them right or really explain it any better than that...
I'm sure somebody else can explain it better than i have....I can't answer about the float...maybe lars can help you.
