which harmonic balancer?
which balancer do I need for a 75 l-82 my reference shows the 8 inch high perf. ,6 3/4 regular but I did a l-48 with a 8 inch whats the difference? what else do I need to look for?

I'm not sure if there's much of a difference, but if you need a 6 3/4, and you get an 8 inch one it won't fit because of your timing tab. And if you need and 8 but get a 6 3/4 it will be harder to time it with the balancer so far away from the tab.

Might as well revive this instead of starting a new thread.
I have a 71 with the 270HP engine. The HB is starting to come apart.
Last weekend I pulled the fan, shroud and old HB. Went to slip the new one on and it won't fit. Not only will it not clear the timing tab but it does not seem to clear the curve of the water pump!
The one that came OFF was 6.75 and the new one from Zip products is 8. I actually asked for the HB for a 350/270HP motor. They said it's a M-2717. (350 base motor). I doubt ZIP is wrong?
Did someone replace the stock water pump with the wrong part?
