Which of the two combos should I go with: a. 454 bored 30 over with flat tops and 100cc Edelbrock alum heads OR b. 454 bored 60 over with 1970 chevelle LS6 dome pistons and 049 iron heads. Already own everything but the Edel heads, but could sell the Ls6 pistons(new in box) and 049 iron heads to help finance the alum heads. The engine is already bored 30 over, just needs honing.
Im for 030 454 edelbrock heads. with the LS6 piston If the head
you mentioned is closed chamber you will have to have a lot
of duration on the cam to bleed off some of the compression.
Vettes are for going around corners the aluminum heads will help out.

Agree,..go with the alum O-port heads. I run them on a 69 Camaro (actually I run the GM Performance version, which are the Edlebrock's which are CNC'd and rebranded and about $75 more per). Good stuff. If you use them, be sure to rub out some sharp edges.
Question,..what intake are you considering and are you considering keeping your stock hood? I think we're locked in to a stock intake manifold if we wish to keep our hoods,..don't know of an aftermartket intake that will clear. Just curious.

If you're going to use the LS-6 pistons and 100cc chambers, you should be well over 10.1 CR.
The 100cc chambered heads weren't avail when I built mine or I would have used them. I'm using the '71 LS-6 replacement pistons which have less of a dome. My CR is about 9.4. I shoulda use the pistons you have.
