couldn't find the other thead where we talked about the layered grinding disks....i saw some at lowes yesterday about $13 a pop and they come in 60, 80 and 120 grit.....what are you and Norval using??? how long do they last and as the top layer gets worn away does it "peel away" to another layer? thanks bob
I'm using 80 frits usually. 13$ a pop? Holy sh!!! I get them for 2.50 or so. They last reasonably well but I use them quite a bit. I buy them in packs of 10. As the top wears away so do the layers, you can wear them down all the way to the adhesive. Sounds like a good way to make money, send those discs over the pond and charge 5$ a pop, that's 25$ on a box LOL

I am using the same ones as Marck and they run about $12 after tax hear. Lucky for me my son buys them in quantities of 125 at a time and sometimes goes through them in a few days. He always makes sure I have a good supply.
That and the thin cutting discs and the grinding wheels for welds are the 3 consumables I use the most.
I use the sanding wheels right down to just about the plastic. New nothing seems to cut as fast as them. I use the grinding wheels for welds first and then switch to the abrassive wheels for finishing up.
4 1/2 inch grinders are only $29.95 here so I bought 6 of them so I don't have to change wheels all the time.

they are cheap here also but I only have 4 of them.....so next time to harbor freight i will have to look for layered disks and a dedicated grinder for them!!!
Well..I worked some more on my custom dual a arm rear suspension and have the upright figured out for the most part. I only welded in 1 side on this upright but the parts are ready to fully weld both sides, only thing left is to properly position the upper arm bolt hole (has to be inline w/ lower arm hole and u joint)
I decided to use 3/4 heim ends instead of 5/8th. I pressed a reducer sleeve into the rod end to reduce the hole size to 5/8th...cheaper than buying a new set of these aurora rod ends.
I also drilled holes in the round middle section, I will also drill some holes in the 2 legs where there's room. As of now the assembly is pretty light, a lot lighter than the stock trailing arm.
