When using my left turn signal it will not stay in the on position and I have to hold it down. My 79 has cruise, tilt and tele. The turn signal switch for a 79 swithch with tilt & tele is not listed in MAD's catalog. Where to find and how much of a PITA to replace?
Been there done that. Pretty stright foward fix, but a medium PIA. Remove the horm components and steering wheel. Use a wheel puller to remove steering hub. Now for the PIA part. Use a compressor tool to the remove the compression plate. Auto Zone, and lots of parts stores will loan this tool. You will need to use the tool again to install the plate. Once the plate is compressed, remove the c-clip retainer. Now you are looking at the turn signal switch. At about the ten c'clock position you will see a phillips head screw, it holds the steering lever coupler in place. If this screw is not tight it will allow slack in the turn signal lever. Apply LocTite to the threads and tighten. If the screw is tight, remove the screw. This will allow you to remove the coupler. The coupler must be mated properly to the turn lever to lock the turn signal in the left position. Move the switch lever to the up position to see if it slips into the detent slot. Then check to the down position. If it still dosen't lock in the detent, remove coupler and try to reconnect. Once the switch locks in both positions reassemble in reverse order.
Hope yhat you only have a loose screw. Hope this helps.
The switch is in the DrRebuild catalog, Original Delco-Early 79
with bent lever -43.80 Repro. made in USA-32.95. Shows same
switch for no T/T and with T/T,as a matter of fact shows same
switch for 69 thru early 79.

Please let me know if it is the screw that connects the cross-over arm from the dimmer pivot to the turn signal switch or if it is something else. I like to make reference to common problems and their solutions in my Disassembly & Repair papers.
