For those that followed my hyd. roller thread on monday, I decided on the sugg. by gkull and go with 1.5 rockers. This will give me the same lift as my choice with 1.6 rockers. So I thought I'd upgrade my rockers, I've been running comp roller tip 1.6.
Know the next question, will crane energizer or comp pro magnum roller rockers fit under my vette alum valve covers.

Crane Cams continuously improves and upgrades its cam designs. In some cases this may mean that two Crane Cams with the same part number may actually be different grinds. You must check the GRIND NUMBER stamped on the front of the camshaft and check it against the Grind Number near the top of the Spec Card. For more information on the finest available camshafts, valve train components, and automotive ignition products, visit your local Crane dealer or call the Crane Cams tech line at (386) 258-6174 or FAX (386) 258-6167
What you mean you did not want another one of those good ole comp
cams, you only had two failures you did not want try for three strikes
and your out I don't know if the roller rockers will fit under the
stock valve cover. Have fun.

You're right, I just placed the order with jegs, all Crane chit. I did by a comp. nylon cam button. But I just can't put another flat tappet in, even by another manufacturer. My wife is gonna die when she gets the bill.

I have set of Crane Gold Race 1.5:1 for sbc w/ 7/16" studs. VERY LOW hours in a circle track motor that had .480 lift cam & relatively light1.260" single springs ... motor did not fail ... I broke it down to sell off parts. Rockers are like new ... never scarred up or fiddled with. They go new for about $300-$310 ... I'll take $225 includes crane polylocks. Email if serious.
I dont think a nylon or aluminum cam button will last for you.
Can I suggest a cloyes timing cover CLO-9-221. it has an
adjustable cam button made into the cover. Motor head has
run one on his 350 and now his 406. its not cheap $94.88 in
summit. If you don't want to spend that much use the adjustable
button that mounts to the cam gear. Nylon and aluminum cam
buttons have a fast wear rate up against the steal timing cover.
If your Wife can withstand the extra shock go with the cloyes
cover.

Do you know if it will work with a short water pump. I tried 2 different alum. timing covers the last time I put a cam in this thing and niether gave enough room to mount the pump over it. I gave up and put a MR Gasket chrome on it fit fine.
Well maybe Motor head will chime in later and tell you if he has a
short water pump or not. Dont use the nylon cam button at least
buy the Adjustable that mounts to the cam gear.

I have been searching summit and jegs for a adj. cam button and only came up with one made by comp. checked their web site they list it for a buick v6
I ran the Cloyes timing cover under my short pump, tight as hell and I had to grind a little off the pump to get it to fit if I remember correctly, they are a damn fine cover.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Cloyes timing cover worked on my 355ci and now my 406ci no problem, no grinding with short water pump, wouldn't put anything else on a motor I was building

Thanks; it is a nice looking cover and whats another 94 bucks on this project
BTW, thats a killer 80, checked out your vid, got lost in some of the others on the site.
I had the Cloyes aluminum adjustable roller button on my first 383. I was so pissed i wrote them a letter. I bought the Crane billet timing set and ended up having to machine the end of the roller button .040 or .060 I don't remember, too be able to even get the cover on. It was the space that a torrington or brass cam gear to block bearing took up.
When it comes right down to it quality roller chain timing sets are so ridged that unless you have a car that can do 2 "G's on take off or stopping the cam doesn't really move fore and aft anyway. My 427 has a water pump with a cover stop screw
