ive got about 10 months into this full tilt 383, and im not happy. ive gotten used to the power and it no longer thrills me. ( 11.40 @ 1/4 mile ). im thinking nitrous would help, as thats the way i was leaning when i biult it. but would you suggest i go with a super charger or just go ahead and get a big block? its all gonna cost about the same ( except the nitro ). im starting to think big block because im wanting 600 ponies or more. thats not alot to ask with todays technology. any suggestions?
thanks, jack
What do you have in your 383, cam type, pistons forged, hyper or cast, heads. Big Block C3s are cool but I really like the fit of a small block. With a solid roller cam and a good set of heads, 383s can be pretty impressive, but 600 street HP is pushing it.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Pretty stout 383 already, 11.4 sec is boring you ? you should be so lucky
According to one 1/4 mile calculator based on combined weight for driver and vehicleo of 3400lbs
"Horsepower Based On 1/4-Mile E.T.
Your Corvette which weighs about 3400 pounds should complete the 1/4-Mile in about 11.4 seconds, if you can produce about 453.58 HP at the wheels, or about 589.65 HP at the flywheel."
What is your mph? what is the setup on the car? what is the weight?
More then likely if your 383 has enough beans to go 11.40s, the compression is probably up there and thats not good for supercharging. Your best bet is to spray it. 150hp shot would get you 10.70s assuming your chasis/tune up with hold the power.
Give us the details of the car...
I want my car to run 11.40s, I am interested in your setup.
I have big mac attacks are you begining to have a RAT attack
How about a 509 or 540 or 572. You know they use small block
chevys for starter motors on big blocks

There is a 540 for sale in the C3 section. A ground-stompin' Big Block is what the Dr. ordered. As 632C2 told me, blowing the tires out at 30 mph will give you smile, blowing them out at 80 mph will give you religion!!!
