Default What type of 700R4 do I need to find?

I have an 80 LG4 with the computer controlled lockup tq converter. Do I need to find a 4L60E? I'm looking at either buying a new TCI 700R4 from Jegs or buying one used and doing a rebuild.

Thanks,
Matt

I am pretty sure you can use a 4L60, 88-92, but not absolutely positive.
All lockup converters are electronic, I believe, and o/d is almost always locked up w/ a 700R4.
Check Bow-Tie overdrives. http://www.700r4.com
Steve Holmes is the master of that stuff, he'll definitely have an answer for you.

You need one from a truck or camaro...any RWD vechicle other than a vette....
vettes have the odd tailshaft, hard to mate up the mounting...
'88 up to 93?? is the one to get, earlier models are too many weak parts...might as well get a good one...
lockup wiring will determine how/when/if it locks up...most were computer controlled, but with a relay off the brake light switch and internal switch wired correctly, you can have lockup in 3&4th gears only....released with pressing brake pedal...
