Hello,
I had a problem the other day with the battery going dead on my 1973 big-block. I had the local shop check both the alternator and battery and they said both were working fine. I then noticed that the stud on the alternator that the positive batter lead hooks-up to seems to be loose. It can be rotated in place and also pulled out about 1/16". I had my girlfriend watch the battery gauge as I did this and it would spike up when I moved the stud. This doesn't sound usual to me at all but I wanted to check and see if the stud is supposed to have some movement in it before I ordered a new alternator.
Thanks in advance for any help.
