Default Headers and exhaust

Hello everyone, I have a 69 coupe with a zz4 engine and Keisler TKO 500 tranny. On the engine I have small block rams horns, 2'' pipes and stock mufflers going out the back. The car runs good, better than the tired engine that was in there but I know it's really choked down. I'm thinking about Flowtech or Hooker comp headers with larger diamater pipes and mufflers. Does Hooker make an exhaust that will bolt up to their comp headers? I was thinking of 2 1/2'' pipes. I really dont want a muffler shop to bend and weld if I dont have to. Any suggestions? All are appreciated. Thanks, Steve

its been awhile since I have bought any headers and they were
hooker, and headman, I like the hooker. With a 350 go with an 1 5/8
tube and whatever brand you go with make sure it has a 3/8th
flange, Headman makes an elite series header that has a 3/8 flange
and 14 gauge tubes, most headers use the thinner 16 gauge tubes.
Pass up any headers that only have the 5/16 flange. I would look
for 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust. 1 3/4 header tubes on a 350
are a little to big unless you want to try for power high up in RPM.

I had the 2in manifolds on my ZZ4 at first then switched to Headman 1 5/8in headers with a 2 1/2in exhaust with magnaflow mufflers. It really made a huge difference. I purchased the headers from Pace parts. The Headman headers are matched to the ZZ4's "D" shaped exhaust posts.

Thanks for the info. Hedman looks like a good header for the price but there is a foot note on their web site that says, Will not fit steering damper inside front crossmember. Could this be a problem on a 69? I dont want to have to force them in. Motor is stock mounted. Where did you get the 2 1/2'' pipes for the exhaust? Hedman doesn't sell them and Ecklers or Corvette Central only makes a 2'' to 2 1/2'' off the manifold side I think. Could I buy a direct bolt on or will I have to have them bent or cut to fit?

www.flowmastermufflers.com sounds like the headman may
hit the power stearing ram. check into hooker headers they have always made good stuff.

Check Dynomax ceramic coated. Inexpensive, and they fit well.

Got my system from Corvette Central. Sounds good and fits well. The pipes are 2" at the manifold, and expand to 2 1/2". I was able to cut the 2" sections out well ahead of the header collectors, and the 2 1/2" section slipped right into the collector(Hooker Comps) for welding. I'm sure they still sell the same system, if you want a complete system that bolts in , that's the way to go. They even supply the clamps and hangers
