1968 ???
I have a 1968 conv that was one of the last couple hundred cars made in 68. It has Stingray logos on the front fenders...is this correct? I thought the Stingray was not until 69...? I noticed also that it appears to have a 69 antenna. Could it be that a few 69 items were launched prior to the 69 model year?
Another reason I'm looking for info on how to check authenticity of my car's parts.

No stingray badges on any '68's. Get an N.C.R.S. judging manual. www.ncrs.org. It will give you the best information on what your 'Vette originally had as far as trim, options/accessories.
BTW...what S/N do you have?. I have a late production also..(>25,000).

Car salesman, circa 1968: Look, you can have this new 68 right off the lot or you can wait 3 weeks for the new 69 model. The new ones are going to look exactly like the old ones except they are going to have Stingray emblems on the side. Otherwise it's the same car! Tell ya what, I'll stick the emblems on this here 68 and it will look just like a new 69! Do we have a deal? What will it take to put you in this car?

I have to agree with Batman...Its a Corvette....who really cares beyond that....
However "generally" most people ..including Corvette "Guys and Gals"
will refer to the 68 ...as well as the 77 as Stingrays... although neither
were badged as such... why 77's and not 78-82's I really do not know...
and honestly I do not care...except that I refer to my 76 as the "last" stingray .. and to my 72 as the last real Corvette (tongue in cheek guys)
as it was the last true (front and rear) bumper car... LOL

I'd say a previous owner added the Stingray scripts at the time he/she put the antenna on. Any evidence he/she also added the '69 louver inserts?
Any evidence the doghouse has been swapped? My '68 had a partial 69 front end on it as a result of collision damage.

maybe yours was removed.
What exactly are we trying to prove here? Stingray script was not put on 68 corvettes at the factory. It could be easily added by the original owner and been on the car for 38 years, by which time the car wouldn't know the difference.
