Default Engine stops when hot.

74 Vette starts and runs well when cold but wants to cut off when the motor gets hot. Especially on a hot day. New issue that started after tune up. I have changed the air compressor and accumulator but also wires, plugs, D-cap, points, rotor, coil and wires. Set dwell, time to spec. Car starts super when cold but after the motor gets hot car gets sluggish, rpms drop and car cuts off. Additional drag of AC seems to bring the problem on quicker. Cranks strong after cut off, is getting gas but will not start. Let it sit for 15 min or so and the car will re- start and run normal. Then after running for another 30 or 40 min it gets sluggish and at a stop light the car will sputter and likely cut off. Temp gage is normal and car does not seem to be over heating. Coil is right for 350 but slightly higher voltage than stock. Thinking that is most likely culprit. Anything thoughts?

Are you still running a catalytic converter?

Coil sounds possible along with the balast resistor getting hot and opening up. Might want to check that also, houstonvett

Thanks guys. No catalytic converter in 74. Think that first showed up in 75. Balast resister is a good thought. Hope I can still find one for the 74. Will try that before I replace the coil. Thanks.

There was no ballist resistor -your car uses a resistor wire that runs at least to the bulkhead connector,I'm not sure if it goes all the way to the switch as a resitor wire. You said it had fuel when it acts up does it have spark?
