Default What shocks

Pound for pound (dollar for dollar) Kyb gas-adjust or Bilstien HD, with stock springs.

With a name like "smooth-rider", you should be telling us which shocks to buy!

I'm using a fiberglass mono-spring in the rear. Stock springs in front.
I'm going to try the Bilstein HD next.
I've tried the Tokico and KYB but neither one has been firm enough.

I did not like the KYB shocks, they were too soft for me. These shocks don't work with 550lbs coils and my 9-leaf steel spring (aftermarket or re-arched, PO installed it). You may like them with the stock springs.
I installed the Bilstein HDs and it was a huge difference. I'm sure the Bilsteins are the better choice, even with stock springs. They're definately not harsh or uncomfortable

I have the regular street KYBs, not adjustables, they are the silver ones. I have the TRW 340lb rear spring and stock front springs and stock rubber bushings through out. My car sits and rides awesome. Not too stiff and not spongy by any means. I could use some modern tires but..

I don't push it hard around corners though it has little body roll.

Wish I could explain smooth-rider but that one is reserved for my wife Looks like i'll be going for Bilstein HD, stock rear mono but going to change the front springs to either 460lb and not put AC back in or the 550lb w/AC which reminds me, anyone have clearance problems with the shorter than stock springs. BTW my shark is a 81. Thanks all for the input on the shocks.

I have the Bilstein HD's and the ride is too soft for me, some might like them but I think for my taste I should have gotten the Sports. Car control is definitely very much improved though.
