tach filter test
is there any way to test the tach filter?
mine is there but not hooked up and i'm wondering
if the PO bypassed it because it was bad.
also could being hooked up without the filter
have caused the PCB to explode? or is it just there for radio noise?

yea the filter is there for a reason! The way I understand it, voltage spikes are what the filter is to protect the tach from .... must have a capacitor/diode setup in it or something.
If a tach stops working lots of folk will unplug the filter thinking that's the first step in diagnosis .... you'd be dollars ahead, to have a gauge pro person plug in a signal generator to the line and see how the tach resonds.
