A little late but it is time to break out the old 68 after parking her last fall. Charged the battery, cover off, check fluids, polish, check lights, eveything looks fine. Hit the key and NO VRRROOOOMMMMmmmmm!
I hear a very muffled "click" from the cockpit but nothing else. With the key in the START positon, the lights don't dim, no solenoid noise, no click click click... just one muffled "click" when I got to START and one muffled "click" when I relaease.
Eveything was fine when I parked her last fall, Any thoughts?
Automatic or manual? If the battery is fully charged and the lights don't dim when you attempt to start the engine I would suspect the neutral safety circuit. It was bad on my car and would work intermittently and turned out to be corrosion in the bulkhead connector that was preventing the circuit for engaging the starter.
