I do have an aftermarket radio in there. I'm wondering if I pulled the flat end out of something when I was pulling fuses. How would I know if I need to plug it back in? And if I do need to plug it back in, how do I know where to plug it?
It's probably either the main power feed or the memory "keep alive" line to the aftermarket radio as that sure looks like a noise suppressor cap. I'm assuming there is 12V a the connector. If it's switched (off w/key out) then it probably the main feed. If it's hot all the time, it's probably the memory line.
The silver thing is a Condensor, Capacitor or noise suppressor. It goes by all of these names. the wire is not "hot" with 12V (unless you connect it to the power!). The case of the Cap is grounded to the birdcage. It is used to stop/reduce electrical noise getting into the audio system. It is usually connected to the power line going to the radio to filter out the noise on the power supply line.
It is not necessary unless you are getting noise such as alternator whine in the audio system.
