Now that all the parts have been blasted and have been painted with POR-15 and Chassis Coat. I took a couple days off and started putting my 78 back together. Here’s the progress so far.
Once it has cured (give it at least 3 days) it is rock hard. I have used it before on trailer hitches and did not like the color after being exposed to the sun, however it was still rock hard. That’s why I used the Chassis Coat this time as a top coat. Its no fun to use if your in a hurry. Recoat times are important as explained in the directions.
You'd better remove the upper shock mount bolt in the rear because its in backwards in the picture. The bolt head should face outboard, with the nut on the inside. If its installed incorrectly, you'll not be able to remove it once the body is back on.
Also, the lockwasher goes under the bolthead, not the nut in that application.

Thank you, I will correct that when I torque the bolts.
Looks great! I'll be paying close attention to your updates because I have a '78 on the go as well. The only difference between your resto and mine is that yours is on the uphill stroke, and mine is still on the downhill........
