there is a runbber hose at the tank coming from the sending unit, clamp down there and your are good to go.
I have a set of vice grips that have flat surfaces designed for just this ( onther seldom use tool in tthe box) but it workes perfect in this situation
I don't believe it's a siphoning effect. I believe it's just gravity flow because the tank is higher than the pump. Take a scrap gas hose and put a bolt in the end. When you pull off your fuel line, install this hose and you won't lose much fuel.
I have these yellow PLASTIC locking clamps. They look like pliers but are plastic and have a locking ring on the handles.
They are made specificly for clamping rubber hoses as the plastic won't cut into or damage the rubber hose.
I clamp off both fuel hoses before disconnecting them from the fuel pump anything i'm doing work in that area and it saves fuel from draining out of the lines.
I got mine from the local NAPA store. They came in a set of three of varying sizes. I can't remember the cost but they were very inexpensive - maybe $10-$15 for the set?
