I need the correct name for the following part so I can locate it and order one. It's a solenoid type device that attaches to the side of my quadrajet and I believe it's supposed to engage when the a/c is turned on raise the idle a few rpms. I've seen some items called idle stop solenoids, is this the same animal?
Thx, ESU
It also might be called an anti-dieseling solenoid. If it is used to totally close the throttle when you shut down it will eliminate dieseling. They can also be set up to raise the idle when the AC is run. Same part, different functions.
ESU, just wanted to say thanks for the info. Found a picture of the part on the corvette central web sight. They have $90+ bucks on it for year 73/74. I will check around further but now I know where I can get the part.

Your welcome,
thats what this forum is for. The price is almost double but if you need it what can you do. there are other vendors to try but I imagine they'll all be within a buck or two: Ecklers, COrvette America, MidAMerica, Riks Vette parts etc. You can also try Davies Corvette parts, they have a lot of used stuff as well. I'm actually still waiting for mine I had to re-order, the day I thought I ordered I started filling out the online order sheet and got called to the phone and my wife started using the computer and cleared my stuff. :{

I used to think it was to increase the RPMs when the A/C was on, but that's not how it was originally wired. It was put there to increase the RPMs of an automatic tranny vehicle while it is in a drive gear so that when you come to a stop while in drive the engine won't die. However, some people rewire them for stuff like when the A/C is on, or when they kick their sub-woofers on, etc.
