Perhaps a silly question, but is there any noticable performance advantage for the T-Toped cars? Are they lighter? Stiffer? etc. I am looking for a 1968-72 Big Block car and trying to decide which I would prefer. I will use the car as a regular driver and prehaps an occasional autocross car. I doubt I would do any serious track or strip time in an old car like this (I would hate to have to pay to fix it if I wrecked it.)
If you are debating whether to buy a T Top or a VERT there are so many personal issues involved that the minute difference in performance should be the last thing you consider.
I don't think there is a performance difference in the body type. Engine HP, timing, equipment, tires, suspension, exhaust, all have more bearing on performance than body type.
Parting thought, if you are going to race the TTop acts as a roll bar. If you race a vert you may want to add a roll bar.

Yes you can....even with the top down
I have had both verts and coupes. The t-tops are more solid, less body flex than a vert....but a vert is alot more fun. This 72 is my first convertible....and I love it

I've seen some pics of what happens when a C3 coupe gets upside down. Let's just say the T-Top frame/birdcage ain't going to save your bacon if this is what your depending on.
Roll bar/cage will be needed in either body style if serious racing/performance is your thing.
