Default Engine Hoist Type?

I have 73 coupe. What type of engine hoist do most use to pull the engine or engine/tranny: portable or overhead?

if you use the "boom" type, you will need to remove the front tire in order to swing it around,it will not reach in straight from the front.

Use an engine leveler as well if you plan on pulling the engine and transmission at the same time.

I found with my boom lift if I jack up the car right behind the front wheels I can fit the lift where I need it.

folds right up in the corner.

seriously though.. we moved a bunch of years ago to a much smaller house. Since me and my siblings had all moved out to college, there was no room in the garage for my baby. Instead of renting a place, we built two block walls and cornered out a section of our warehouse for the vette (family owns a factory). It is very nice to have access to pretty much anything I need. Full machine shop with bridgport, lathe, welders, plasma, nut/bolt assortments, trucks, etc... and yes, multiple forklifts.

I put that engine in by myself in no time!!!

Oh Yeah, I used a 10' X 1 1/2 steel pipe going across 8 trusses on 16 centers. Blocked it at the strongest points. More than enough for the 1000 lbs needed.
