Default Electric fuel pump

I have decided to install an electric fuel pump in my 71 Stingray.. I want to leave the mech pump in and installed the electric pump between the fuel line from the tank and the fuel pump. There is a short 8-10 inch rubber fuel injection hose there and that is where I want to install it..
What do ya think about this plan??
I talked to a fella that installed one on his motor home with a BB 454 Chevy and it solved his fuel starving problem.
Mine is a SB 350 with a Q'jet

Ron
PS : where is a good electrical connection place that is on when the ignition is on in the engine compartment???

I installed my electric (Holley Red) in the rear between the fuel tank and original steel fuel line going to the front. I got power from a relay that I use to get clean power to the stereo system.

I do not know why you would want to keep your mechanical pump in place. While the electric pump will blow through the mechanical pump with some loss in the electric pump's flow, you will be continually pressurizing the mechanical pump's ruber diaphram, not an ideal situation. If the diapham ruptures, you will fill your crankcase with gasoline. That is really NOT a good thing to do, possibly diluting your oil and wiping out your bearings or possibly causing an explosion.

I would also like to add the importance of a switch to shut off pump if you have an accident.
