Ok i post a long time ago about this but fiqured since its been a while i would ask. For those who run vortec heads what have you dynoed and what is the setup. So post thoses dyno numbers
In short: lots of horsepower and torque when used with the right cam and amazingly cheap too! Do need tougher springs and some other small add-ons though. Once I find out what those heads will cost to get here and the extra add-ons, I'm seriously considering those.
I just bought a set from rhs that have screw in studs 2.02's springs that handle .550 lift for 675 for the pair on e-stink. 64 cc combustion chamber and 200cc intakes. I don't know what cam to pick yet as I have the th400 and 3.08 gears, but I'm leaning for something with about .480 lift and 220 duration. If the cam is too radical it won't work out well with 3.08 gears. I know the runners on the intake are a little large, but I think they will be ok as well.
If you will notice it is drilled for the new vortec intake manifolds and the old manifolds. Does that lead to port mismatch if I use my regular weiand aluminum intake? Anybody know?
Yeah, but they cost twice as much as the iron version.
The article(s) I posted suggest you need a vortec manifold, but perhaps these heads fit both (doubt that though). You should ask the tech guys at either weiand or racinghead.
The better aluminum ones are GM fastburn heads. Aluminum factory heads with even better performance that the stock vortec ones. Still priced pretty good although I did go with the cast cause it was so cheap.
