Thanks to all who answered my first post on this and identified the part. Now I need some help finding a replacement. Everything I looked at today ( 4 different parts places ) just didn't seem to be the same. Either the thread was different, the temp sensor was larger, or the top configuration was different.
This switch screws into the intake manifold right beside the thermostat housing. It has a black body with a white top. Is it possible that it is no longer made and has been replaced with something designed differently?
Anyway, here is a picture of it. If anyone has a source or knows a replacement that definitely works, please let me know.
Thanks and STW

Please note that the vacuum connection labeled with "C" is broken off. It crumbled when I tried to remove it from the vacuum line. Also, the ports themselves are broken off at the base so it looks a little skewed.
Re: Need Help Finding TVS switch for 76 (76Stinger)
If that is EGR that I make out on the side of it...I picked up one for my 77 at autozone about a year ago. It controlls vacuum to the EGR and screws into the thermostat housing, also it was purple in color, the one for the EFE was green.
Re: Need Help Finding TVS switch for 76 (76Stinger)
OK - one more comment on this thing. I have looked at a dozen or more varieties of this thing and just about every one of them is different. The closest I found seemed to be same temperature but the actual sensor, cap on bottom of part, was almost the same size as the threads, whereas the original was about half the size. Does that make a difference? I need to get this replaced "soon" so I can drive it to a local show next weekend.
Once there at the bottom of the page there is a place to enter the OEM number. Put your number there and it will come up as a Wells number E907.
You can call any parts store and see if they can cross this number to their brand. Then check it out and see if it matches. If they don't have it in stock have them look in thwe buyers guide, usually in the back of the catalog. it will, as a rule, give you a picture and description of the part.
Re: Need Help Finding TVS switch for 76 (76Stinger)
I picked one up at Pep Boys last summer for my 1976. I brought the original in and they looked it up on their parts system. The first one brought out didn't match, but the second one did. One thing to remember, the thermostat for a 1976 was originally set for 195 degrees. This thing has a temp sensor in it that either shuts off vacuum or opens vacuum (can't remember which) at a given temprature. Be sure the one you get is right for your thermostat calibration.
forgot, they didn't call it a TVS but a PVS (ported vacuum switch I believe).
