Well, it's been a long road but today Gordonm came over and this afternoon we started up my 73 with the new engine. After waiting a month for Jet Hot to return my headers and the mini starter last Saturday pooping out, the new engine fired right away and now it's The engine has the Comp Cam XS274S solid lifter cam. After properly breaking in the cam and ajusting the lifters she's running very strong with over 20" of vacuum! now I can move the vette and finish the interior work. Thanks Gordonm for all of your help! Nothing like the sound of solids....
You bet Lee, I've been waiting about 2 months to start the engine but as we all know it's the little things...replacing the heater core with an A/C car, getting new headers and finding out the flanges are warped and do not fit, dealing with the vendor for over a month to straighten things out... I could whine alittle more but we all have been there, so the good news now is she runs very strong and is ready for the maiden test run
This motor sounded stronger in his car than mine. I was really impressed on how this one ran with this cam and how much vacuum it pulled. Should be a strong runner. Wait until you hear the solids at 6000 rpm.

Hey 73 tell me more about your motor! What displacement, heads, etc..

I can relate to the latter sentence... Congrats!!! you'll love it!!!
Motor is a LT1 350 short block. AFR 180 heads with a perfromer RPM air gap intake with a 650 speed Demon for now. Headers, custom 2 1/2 exhaust.
When Gordon built a new motor and offered me this one I couldn't refuse. His 72 was very strong, we made few changes, a slightly smaller solid lifter cam, differant manifold and carb, it's pulling a ton of vacuum and sounds great! I'll add a 750 mighty demon carb soon
