Did you guys see the thread that PhotoVette1 did on a Lincoln Continental Mark VIII fan Instal? It is on the 2nd or 3rd page now; may be the answer to your problem!

A couple possibilities. Your mixture may be too lean at 70 mph and above, or timing is not advanced enough at higher rpm. Also be sure you have transmission tunnel foam seal.

Ron,
got it the other day, bought a red (has to match the car lol)anodized 18inch heat sink style. Just havent had a chance to install. Spent all day today at the glass shop installing a new regulator and tryin to get the dam window to line up. Nuthin works for me :{ . Now I need a few of those roller thingys for the track. Prolly wasted 180 bux on the regulator.
Will try to install maybe tomorrow, see where I'm gonna fit it.

That wasnt a fan it was a wind tunnel. I have one more 12 inch flex a lite to install yet, just ordered a temp controller for it. 1 fan will come on with the a/c plus the other one by temp plus the mechanical fan. If that doesnt keep it cool I'm moving to Alaska! Then it will be a dewiit rad for sure.

Yes I did see that thread and read it through. Also, I believe that guy was in Miami which would be just as hot as here in Georgia. Something to consider.

No 79, here are some ideas since several have mentioned issues w/ 79.
Do you guys that have hwy. cooling problems have the front Indy pace car spoiler?
79 L-82 should have a trap door in the bottom of the shroud that is supposed to open at high speeds- try blocking it closed- it was eliminated later.

DOnt have an L82 so no trap door in the shroud. No indy spoiler but do have regular chin spoiler plus the extension from doc rebuild.

Will be eagerly awaiting your next post. It's about 98 degrees here and the humidity is 100% so once again the pool idea is a great one. I did buy a fan tower and was going to eliminate the fan clutch all together but did not realize that it needed a tower type fan. When I looked at the flexlite fans they said that to save horsepower they flatten out at higher speeds. Sounds really similar to what the fan clutch does so just waiting.

Glad your here. We are sure you make a quality product and have read many positive things about your radiators on the forum. Have also read of some other '79's that the radiator change out made no difference. I not sure whether they were in this post or the engine heat post. I have not personally seen your product but the buzz is that you can expect a 20 degree temp drop vs the stock radiator. 20 degrees would do it for me. Is this temp drop with the dual fan setup or just a radiator only swap? If it is a radiator swap only do we keep our stock clutch fan set up or have to change to another setup? Have you had any feedback for other '79 owners? Thank you for "listening in".

Capt ROn,
just installed the second aux fan yesterday and wired it into a temp controller. Now to just get it hot enough and set the controller to the right temp. Both 10 inch fans fit inside the shroud 1 high left, 1 low right. First one comes on with the a/c, 2nd as stated b4 with temp. This doesnt work I' give up. I"ll post a photo later.

Did you try the tranny cooler? I don't expect you to be the "ginny pig" on this but since you have already installed it??? If you think of something else I'll try it. I did ask some questions directed at Mr. Dewitt,(see post) hope to hear an answer. We have been so busy at work I have not really had a chance to think or do anything with the 'Vette. Underway at 0430 in the AM, so gone..

Tranny cooler is installed just havent had a chance or the time to take a decent length cruise to see what happens. Next week I'm on vacation and will be away so it probably wont happen for awhile.

2 fans installed now, 1 runs off a thermostat visible in the photo, the 2nd runs off a relay hooked up to the a/c. I also did some repair work to the bottom of my shroud. Prior owners apparently cut some notches in it to help in removal of the shroud . Hoping every little bit helps but being the negative person that I am I dont hold out much hope. I also dont think the aluminum radiator is going to help either but eventually I'll be trying that i think. On vacation next week so I wont be able to give it a try till the end of the month. Hopefully they'll still be a few 90 deg plus days left to see what if anything works.
