Default Removing Silicone

Does anyone know, what will remove silicone from around a painted rear window trim, other than scraping off with a knife?

Thanks,
Hans

Try dripping or spraying gasoline onto silicone and it should react within a minute or so by curling and releasing whatever it's holding on to.

i think i'd try a product from a quality paint shop and save the gasoline for the tank or just sniffing. . .the strongest thing i've ever tried on a painted surface was kerosene and i wouldn't do it again. There are too many products out there now that work to take these chances. 0.02

Unfortunately, anything you use that will remove silicon will also remove paint, flesh, and destroy your lungs with the resulting vapors. The nice thing about silicon is that you can easily cut through it with an exacto knife and when you get it down to little bits you can finish up with some goo-gone which smells terrible but I don't think it will eat up the paint.

Friction - Scrape off as much as you can and then rub off the rest, it will roll into tiny little ***** and make a nice mess on the floor.

You can use one of those little wire brushes about the size of a big tooth brush for the small stuff,

Default Silicone remover

I found a product that is used to soften old bath tub silicone caulk. Got it at an ACE hardware store. Works great...Clix

If not removing paint is a concern, take the time and scrape;
otherwise, laquer thinner will remove it.
