Default Nothing ever goes as planed!

I am *trying* to replace my upper control arm bushing this weekend. I figured it would be a day job. Well---> I removed all bolts ect and the Da#N arm would not slide off the frame bolts. It looks like the radiator shroud is in the way to prevent the arm from sliding off. So... ok I will just unbolt the top half...Wait a minute...awww %$# its one piece! I can believe it! Why would they design this as one piece and not two, duh!? So Now I have to pull my fan off to remove the radiator shroud to remove the control arm. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Just venting....-TK

Ok, this how I got my shroud out.

-Removed fan and fan clutch.
-Remove radiator hoses.
-Remove radiator upper brackets.
-Radiator support has three bolts on each side accessible from the wheel well. -Remove the upper two and loosen the lower one. Can remove all three if necessary.
-Loosen two lower support bolts under car.
-Push radiator support forward and wiggle shroud and radiator out as unit. It is possible to pull the shroud alone but risk of damage to the radiator is high. If you want to try this slip a piece of cardboard between the shroud and radiator. Two people makes it go much easier.

About a one-two hour job. Now you know one of the reasons I switched to electric fans. Radiator and fans out in 20 min max.

Good luck.

if your talking about the control arm on pass. side you could have tapped the stud back out and then the arm would remove much easier then having to take out the fan and shroud..thats what i did for mine and then just put the stud back in after control arm is back in.
