A.I.R. Pump/Diverter To Which Vacuum Port?
O.K. - so finding and reading this board is gettin' me re-energized to straighten out some of the small but nagging issues on the Red Bomber(Thanks again for the heads-up on my ammeter "Issue") and I'm trying to address them one at a time.
Car is a '72 454 4-spd with a replacement Edelbrock 1901 carb on it, properly jetted/calibrated for my application. (Thanks to the many archived posts from Lars and others!). The original carb was long gone and I actually found a proper numbered & date-coded rough but rebuildable core only 10 miles from my house, thanks to Hemmings. - restoration of which is for another time.
In the mean time, I have the distributor (TCS solenoid) and the gas-tank carbon cannister plugged into the "Ported" or "Timed" vacuum port on the carb and all is well, it runs like a raped ape.
The question is: Should the A.I.R. diverter valve be plugged into Ported or Full vacuum? I have it plugged into the "Full" manifold vacuum port and it appears fine, but despite reviewing everything I can get my hands on, I can seem to find the answer to this question.
Anybody know?
