BB 71 vette sidepipe install question.....again
I have the drivers side in but It seems impossible to line up. It is hitting the clutch linkage and it looks like the lower head bolts will hit the header flange. Is there a difference in hooker headers for auto and 4 spds?? Are there any known problems with hitting the head bolts?

Call me crazy but this does not look possible. The header is hitting the steering box, the clutch linkage and the head bolts. I know it is possible because I see Vettes with the sidepipe headers. I don't see how the clutch linkage would bolt back even if the headers would bolt in. There are two pipes directly in its path.
Any clues or should I just buy some normal headers and stick with eshaust out the back??

I'm not sure with the big block, but I know that with a sbc, I had to disconnect the clutch linkage to get the headers in. How does the other side fit?

Re: BB 71 vette sidepipe install question.....again (mikeo)
I had to take the washers out of the four bolts on heads so header flanges would fit on. There is lots of room for me for the z bar but the a pipe on the passenger side is hitting the frame and is also making contact with the other center pipe. On the drivers side a pipe is cortacting the steering box. I will dimple the contact areas. I also had to cut on the part below door and just behind wheel wells to fit headers. But other than this, It was a pretty good fit.
This is with the 502. Keep us posted.
O yeah. I also had to change my motor mounts because the wrong ones were in there.

I installed the "Hooker" headersidepipes on my Vette but, the only problem I had was; I had to trim a small portion of the bottom of the front fender and lower trim panel to get it to fit correctly  I really didn't have much of a problem with the install
