Default Fuel Filter

Just had a complete rebuild on the Rochester and not long after some crap got caught in the needle and seat causing it to flood badly. Not keen on fitting a filter but think it is going to be a fact of life. Have seen some fitted in the rear high up in the guard. Where is the best place to fit it and also to hide it, don't want it under the hood.
Suggestions please.

My 82 has a fuel filter on the passenger side frame near the front of the door. You could splice one in at that location.

I've spliced them in the rubber hose coming out of the gas tank before it goes into the frame rail. Out of sight and easy to change. Some people object to filters located on the suction side of mechanical fuel pumps, but I have never had a problem.
