I wondered about the change--thanks. I'm still searching for more info.

Here's some various installation images on the web:

1968 Camaro :

I like the use of the side rails on this install--I may go this way...

The recovery bottle mounted on the fan is a nice idea too--moving it would give plenty of room to get to the evaprator van and VIR/POA on our C3's...

I thought about the recovery bottle thing when I saw a few pictures online. I think it's a Mustang part. I wonder how well it would work sitting at an angle?

It's not really that much of an angle. The only drawback I see is that it doesn't hold as much as our current one. But, that should be much of a problem.

Great pics! What did you think of the amp numbers I got? A 30amp spike on start up and a 9 amp continous draw!

I am thinking that two or more of the power leads need to be energized at the same time to allow the fan to reach full power. I wish my darn fan would arrive so I can play with it too.

The images above show some pretty hefty motors being cooled--9 amps wouldn't even start to cool'em.

It holds more than the one I have right now...since mine is on the shelf.

PhotoVette,
Talking with the local lincoln service mgr, he said that the center wire on the plug was not even being used. We touched a power lead to it and it sparked but did not start the fan. The blue wire is the positive lead and the black wire on the opposite side of the plug is the negative lead. I will have a schematic tomorrow.

Bernie, my center lead definately powers up the fan. I guess I have the earlier version - I think on that style that both have to be connected to get to full power.

Here are some pics of the fan mounting points and how it fits on the core.

Instead of notching it, I was thinking about getting channel weatherstrip and putting that on to seal it to the radiator. Was it a lot of work to cut that.

I like the weather trim idea. I am going to try using both leads attached together today to see what it does. Will look at the lincoln schematics in a few minutes for more info. The install looks good

With the front mount serpentine the fan was 1/8" from the water pump pulley, just to close for me so I had to move it tward the radiator. Not hard at all to cut I used aviation snips to trim it.

With the PWM controler the fan will go to high when it starts for 2 seconds and than it will slow to 50%. There is know question when it goes to high (noise). I will check and see what year fan I have. I'm using the two outside wires on the plug and have the center wire taped off.

I just checked the center wire and when connected to the other wire it pulls the fan down; it does not speed it up. The schematic I just received shows the center wire not being used with this fan, it just terminates it the harness. The fan with full 12 volts spikes a little over 30 amps to start and runs continously around 8 amps. The fan is not loud at all while running. This must be the same fan you have chevyman because the schematic shows a variable control in the circuit. Post more pics when you have time!

Mark VIII fan on left, Flex-a-lite Black Magic on the right. Just for comparison.

Here's a nice write-up on the Mark8's baby brother--the Taurus 16" fan:

PhotoVette,
It puzzles me that I am getting such low amps. I believe I am getting only the low speed function to work on my fan although the diagragram shows that only two wires are being used.
