I used the 3M rubberized undercoating on my wheel wells and underneath the floorboards after I repainted. I like the dulled finish and it seems to help cut down on road noise.
The 3M product was very easy to apply, I think I used 2-3 cans

I used three tubes of black 100% silcone caulk per each wheel well. I put it on with my hands using rubber gloves, then textured it with my fingers--a skill I learned in kindergarden. It dries very quickly.
After 2 years it still looks nice and black. It was shinny at first, but the dulling of fine particals gave it a nice flat black look. It is also much much thicker then spray on--I never hear rocks/water hitting inside the wheel wells anymore.
I recently had to remove some of it to get to the core support bolts, and it peeled of in one clean piece exposing the bolts in pristine condition.

Melting Slicks
I did the rear. It's been a year or since I done it. I did tape off the area to be be sprayed. In my opinion it turned out real nice. I was at Carlisle a couple of years ago and looked at several of the cars forsale. Many on them had been undercoated. They sprayed the stuff over the frame instead of taping it. I thought it looked horrible that way. If you're going to do a job, might as well try and do it right.
