Thinking of doing some upgrades to my engine this winter when I'm not driving much, and want to start planning and possibly buying parts. Problem is I bought the car with a crate engine and I'm unsure of exactly what it is internally. (piston type ect) I was told by the previous owner that it was bought as a short block direct from GM. He also said it had "flat top pistons" the code on the rear of the block reads "10066036" at the front of the block under the altenator is "IM0131" and "2VP" The guy also pulled the stock cam and replaced it with what he said was the "300 H.p. cam" wish I knew more about that too.
Thanks for any insight
According to this website its a 4 bolt main, 350 built in 1994, as a Goodwrench Crate Motor, Mexican. http://www.classictruckshop.com/castgm_smblock.asp
Classic Truck Shop - Chevrolet Small Block Casting Numbers, GM
I found 2 different websites stating the same thing, this casting # on the block is a GM crate motor with 8.5 to 1 compression 250 HP. Here's the link. http://www.paceperformance.com/index...&ProdID=154046
10067353 - 5.7L- (LS9-L) & (LM1-6) 1971-1985 GM Cars & Trucks (Up To 7,200 GVW) With Chevy 350 V8 - Also known As The "Universal 350" - 10067353
Interesting.....I was doing the same thing a while ago to find out what i have and it says 350 2 bolt block.... when i had my oil pan off I clearly saw 4 bolt main.
Yep...I got the same one. There is another web site that states 92-94 and could also be 2 bolt mains. An engine guru here in Va told me to put a GM 350/350 Cam in it and it will run like mad! so that's my winter engine project....
