Once I turn off the engine after its hot. It will not start again for approx. 5 minutes. It appears that the engine is not getting fuel. After approx, 5 minutes that engine will start normally. Has anyone had this problem? I was wondering if the problem is related to the Anti-Theft system. (as a side note: The alarm used to go off own its own all the time - until the horn stopped working)
Well just for grins pull the anti-theft fuse out of the fuse block and see if that does the trick. But i set mine off one day and tried to start it and it wouldnt even crank.
The fuel pump relay that is behind the pasanger seat is getting too hot and/or the fuel pump is getting hot and drawing too many amps to get the pump started.
If you are stranded on the road then turn the key on and run 12 votls to the fuel pump at the diagnostic port under the ash tray. This will get the pump running for now and you can get home.
I use a paper clip and 12v from the lighter.
try replacing the fuel pump relay ~ $20.00
or leave the rear storage compartment open to cool the relay.
a new fuel pump may draw less amps in hot temps.
I had a funky oil pressure sending unit/fuel pump switch - the one mounted next to the distributor. When the engine oil got hot, for some reason it didn't show enought pressure at the sending unit to trip the switch. I had safe pressure - the switch just required more than necessary. Replaced it, and all has been fine. One more thing to check
