Has anyone swapped out a C3 gas tank and put in a C2 gas tank (this is in a '77)? I have this tiny gas tank (17 gallons) and want a bigger tank. I know some C2's had 36 gallon tanks, and were based on a similar frame as C3's, but differ when it comes to the fuel tank area. I do not know if the tank from a C2 would fit, or if I would have to settle for a '68-'82 tank. Anyone know?

Never heard of this before. You really want to be a bigger rolling bomb?
You have less control over being rear ended and thats a lot of fuel.

You're gonna have trouble getting the 36 gallon tank from a mid-year coupe (which took up much of the rear compartment) into your C3...
You might want to give the folks at Quantahttp://www.gastanks.com/ a call and see what they say regarding which tank will fit in your car. These folks make some of the best reproduction gas tanks on the market. Some of the larger tanks are shaped differently and might not fit.
36 gallons is much. The 24 g tank from another C3 year sounds much better. It's just that, when I drive it to work, I want to be able to make it there and back, and it is only 68 miles one way. The thing can pass everything but a gas station.
Things may change after the TPIS is installed and the heads are swapped out, but since I am going to purchase a new tank (as the car gets rebuilt) I just thought I'd ask. Thanks, turtlevette, Oldguard 7, and Gusto!
