I have a 68 orig 327 with headers. I have redone all ext parts on motor rad, carb, fuel pump, waterpump, hoses changed out points etc. Trying to make reliable. Car runs great for 30-45 min then just stalls. If I wait for 15 minutes it starts right up. Feul pump is 1 line ,original was 2 line clamped off,i know this was on to circulate gas to keep cool.Is my best bet to insulate all gas lines or are there any other suggestions.
I've used this fuel line wrap from JC Whitney with success on several engines.
Might want to also install a thin, non-metalic carb spacer to prevent fuel in the carb bowl from boiling.
Also you can sometimes get ethanol blended fuels without knowing (some states do not require informing the consumer) and ethanol will definitely vapor lock a lot easier than straight gasoline.
The two line system for the 68, and 69, was not used to cool gas. I seriuosly doubt you have vapor lock. It sounds to me as if the open pressurization gas lines and gas cap (In other words, hydro carbons are free to the air) are now blocked. Either the gas cap is sealed, or something is pressurizing the gas tank, and not allowing fuel back to the carb. Ill bet it has something to do with removing that second line, or the fuel filter bad or dirty
