Having owned the exact same car..74 base 350 auto with 2.73 gears I can deff tell you if you ran any better than 16.5-17 sec 1/4s it sure ain't stock!!!

My 74 AFTER LT-1 cam & solids, 1970's heads (prob about 9.5 comp), aluminum high-rise, headers would run 15 sec flat with a best of 14.99.
It would also give a lot of big boys a start after 40-50 mph when it came "on the cam" but those 2.73s really killed standing start times!

If your car is doing anthing like 13s with 2.73s it sure is a long way from stock. I would estimate 500 hp you sure it's not a "built" big block??

The street won't tell you much...I have a blast from light to light in my '77 with basic modifications and 3:36 gears and can "hang with most cars." Little bit of torque is a lot of fun on the street...

Like you I have not been to the track or a dyno yet, but that is the only way to really figure out what you are putting down...

Good luck and have fun!!!

We can't comment on how fast your car is because we have no idea how fast it is, even with your testimonials. I remember back in high school a classmate of mine claimed his car was a factory "freak" because it was so fast without major mods. Not sure if he even had headers. It was a Dodge Swinger 340 and he claimed to go out to Woodward Avenue and beat everything out there. Anyone remember the car? (This was back in 1970/71).

I think a factory "freak" is theoretically possible, but exists more frequently in the mind than in fact. Engine mods are also possible to increase hp. Imagination is also a very fertile source of perception of speed. Dyno sheets and timeslips are useful.

I would think if you're beating bonafide 13 second cars, the engine is probably not purring like a kitty at idle.

You're beating all these lightnings and GT mustangs and LS1 camaros for the same reason the kids in the honda civics are beating these types of cars (its true since that's what you read all the time in the ricer forums). You must have some stickers or 3 inch tail pipes.

OK i think something must be wrong here because i used to have the exact same setup. 1974 L48 with 3.08 rearend. My friend has a 98 z28 ls1 which i have rode in and street raced in many times and my old L48 wouldnt even come close to it.

My 71, L48 ran a 15.02@92 with the stock, low compression(8.5-1) motor but with a 327/350hp blue print cam and headers/2.5" exhaust. All else including the air cleaner/intake/q-junk was all stock. This is with a Th400 and 3.08s. Yes they are turds..

No way you are even coming close to an LS1 with anything less then a cam/intake/ported or aftermarket heads and probably some gears.

Get it to the track and that will tell you the heartbreaking truth.

I own a '99 Z28 and a '79 Corvette. Even with a few mods the Vette is not even coming close to the Z..... well, it looks a lot better and is louder

Some do run better than others stock, however since it has headers a performance enthusiast would also do other changes like cam, heads or mods to heads, boring, stroking, rear gears, etc. You may need to do a topic to determine rear gears- besides changing there are optional gears. Check for 400 balancer.

actually spyderD i dont so you can kiss my ***. why the hell would i waste my time asking questions that concerned something i was lying about?? that doesnt make much sense now does it?? no i dont think it does. if i was making up bull**** i would say something thats outrageous not something that could actually happen. why dont u stop calling me a liar and butt out of a conversation that doesnt involve you. but i never said i beat an ls1 camaro, i said i hung with him, 1-2 car lengths behind until around 70-80 mph where he pulled pretty good. it was a stock 2000 z28 with the 4l60e not the t56 so that had something to do with it

That was probably about the time he took it out of first gear

Instead of running your mouth why don't you go to the track and run your car? If you had done this before you asked the question it would have made things much simpler. Then you could have asked "my car runs high 13's and I don't know if it's stock or not, what do you think"?

If it runs anything close to 13 second times, no it isn't stock.
