According to the description, this bracket is for use with a short water pump. I'm pretty sure my '69 has a long water pump. My problem is that I can't find a drivers side bracket for use with a long water pump.
Will it make any difference, or will I need to get a short water pump and new pulleys?
My '70 has a short water pump. The '69's and '70's were so much alike that GM didn't print a manual for the '70. I would bet that if your car has a long pump it ain't stock.

You're probably right. I had this 454 built to replace the 350 and the engine builder sold me the pump and said it's the one I need. It's aluminum and I think he said it was the long one. How can I tell to be sure? Is there something I can measure?
Well, I guess I misunderstood something because I do in fact have a short water pump. So, the bracket from summit should work for me. Now I just hope the pulleys all line up.
I have seen the Summit stuff on various cars. {street rods, Vettes and such} As long as you have the early short WP you would be better off with the OEM parts as it will not put the alternator up high over the valve cover with a bunch of rod ends to adjust it. Plus all your current pullys will line up perfectly and the belts will not come blasting off at high RPM`s. Very important to me as I`m always flirting with 7000+

I need to run tall valve covers because of the stud girdle. I'm afraid the OEM brackets won't let the alternator clear the valve covers.
when i spoke to summit, the gentleman said that that bracket was intended to locate the alternator in the "stock" location, wherever that is! i like the looks, but my alt needs to be moved a little outboard and rearward from "stock". let us know how they work out on your vette; maybe post some pics too. . . thanks
