If you don't have a #4 carrier, I'd send the gears back and get something that will fit your #3 carrier. I have 3.55's and am happy with them, but I also have a complete 4.56 unit sitting under the bench, for those times when I may want a little more excitement.
Richmond may give you setup headaches and require a 4 series carrier. You can get them relatively cheap as there is not too much demand for them anymore. You can save money by returning the 411 set and looking for a Tom's 411 set that will work with your present 3 series carrier.

I'd definitely send the gears back, and purchase the the thick 4.11 set that fits the 3 series carrier with no problems. I have these 4.11's in my '69. They are available from Zip products and made by U.S. Strange.

I'm also looking at getting a rebuilt differential from fastcorvette.com - right now have a 3.36 in my '73 which has a ZZ3 engine, and not sure which one to get - I don't plan on doing any drag racing, but want good takeoff power and somewhat decent gas mileage - I'm thinking either a 3.55. or a 3.70 - any thoughts?

Go with Tom's 3.73, also have Gary rebuild it (GTR1999). He doe's awesome work, plus alot of extras others don't. Worth the price. He just finished mine. Can't wait to install it.

Don't hold your breath on that one. Tom's is still out from my last check so unless you find a guy that has them on the shelf it will probably be past the 30th. If you do find them expect to pay more too, I needed a set of 373's and the cost was about $100 higher then normal so I gave up my own set to help out my friend.
No I just clicked on the link that c3stroker posted for me.I really hope they come in I already kicked out about 600.00 with the first set from summit and now these at 359.00
I regret ever dealing with fastcorvette. They will bill your credit card when you place your order and it may be months before you recieve anything. When you do recieve it you may not be happy with the quality. You may also spend more money on long distance phone calls than your core charge that you are trying to get refunded is worth. You also may not get this refund without threatening to call your credit card fraud dept. FWIW give gtr1999 the extra money for a quality piece, its well worth it.
