'75 Doesn't start well

Hi all,

Whenever I start up my '75 Vette it takes several attempts to get the engine going. Then when I put the auto transmission either in drive or reverse it seems to cut out and stall. Once I get going, and for the rest of the day it's fine though.

Any ideas? Again, I hope it isn't something serious or I'll have to start selling organs to keep this car on the road

Clean the carb up and make sure the choke and all the other parts are working correctly. Look for vacume leaks.
