Can't figure this one out. When I turn on my directionals, they seem to blink normal for about three blinks, then gose fast and sporatic. I changed the flasher, but no difference. All the lights are working, just blnking wierd. Any suggestions?
This was happening before my stupid move on another post.

mine do pretty much the same thing, i just live with it till i can get another flasher, you know there are two right?
Already replaced the flasher, twice in case one was defective. All heavy duty. The car wasn't even running, so alterrnator speed was not an issue. Grounds might be the problem. I will check them. Strange, they start normal for about 2 or three blinks, then go fast.
Heavy duty bulbs vs standard bulbs WILL affect blinker speed. (Don't know which you're supposed to have on a 70 so you'll have to look that up). Check the bulbs front/rear AND side marker bulbs. Your side marker bulbs are in the blinker circuit as well. If they are old with dirty contacts this too will impact blinker speed. So get our there and clean/check those bulbs so you know what you're working with.
OK, blinker speed is controlled by the load on the flashers and the applied voltage. Thats why they Normally flash a bit faster at speed than they do at Idle. The wrong bulbs (to much current, high wattage) will cause them to flash fast. A trailer connected and light duty flashers will make them flash fast(to much load). A short will cause them to flash fast. A bad ground will not. Check all your bulbe for the correct number in the correct positions, Check for debris in the sockets (rust). Its there somewhere

Heavy duty electronic flashers are not prone to the "faster flashing" syndrome because they do not use the bi-metallic contact spring that is governed by current draw.
Check your turn signal fluid, it may be low. hmmmmmm
He didn't say he noticed a leak, so how can it be low?
Seriously...you either have a bulb out or not getting good contact...as Hammerhead Fred suggested, or a ground wire may not be making good contact. Since the body is fiberglass then every bulb on the car has to have a grounded fixture...it's possible that one of the grounds needs some adjustment. Maybe turn the signal on so that it's blinking fast and then go around and jostle the wires for each bulb and see if you can get the speed to change.
It almost sounds like there's some current running from the tachometer to the flasher system.
