Are there any good looking heater hose valves on the market. I would like to put one on to cut back the heat but would like to get one that would look good any links or pics would be nice
I would not recommend any of the plastic valves...I used one for a couple of years and it couldn't take the heat and broke apart. You could always get a metal one and paint it.
I bought a valve made for a late 70's chevy from the local auto parts store. I think it was about $14.00. It was made to be operated by a cable but I never hooked one to it. I mounted it to the 5/8's hose coming out of the intake manifold.
i with u on that one..they look like they came from a hardware store...i found one in a plant the other day (stainless) but i dont know if it is the right size...i hope so ,so it want look like it came off my home hot water heater lol keep us posted
You can also just plug the outlets on the water pump and intake manifold with cheap pipe plugs from any hardware store. You can store all the hoses until winter or when you want to hook things back up. Downside is defroster function won't work.
In Louisiana you probably don't need the heater too much.

I've got the Delco plastic vacuum-controlled valve on my 77 right now (service replacement for the crappy metal valve). It's been working fine for almost 6 years.
I used 2 ball valves (brass) with tapered hose connectors on both ends. I got them at Home Depot. I put them on both hoses to eliminate residual heat getting back into the box because the fan runs on low all the time. One helps and 2 helps better.
