Door handle rod ?
Is this the correct position for the rod coming down from the handle or should it be on the other side of that lever, thereby putting that %@&@* clip on the other side where it is impossible to clip on. I have had nothing but problems with this door

looks like the right position, but that clip doesn't look right. I'll go out and look at mine
nope, mine is on the other side from where you have it, but I can't tell about the clip. I think it goes over the end of the arm on the latch, then the rod goes thru it and the clip slides over to lock it

The swivel goes in from the front side of the latch. You have it coming in from the back. The clip slides onto the lever and locks in with a detent tab. A real PITA clip.

That is not correct Wayne. I just found a picture on my computer. Give me a minute and I will upload it to Photobucket and post it. It looks like you are missing a piece. Hang loose.

Thanks guys, I couldn't remeber but I thought the swivel went on the front, then I tried for 1/2 hour to get the clip on and couldn't so I deduced (incorrectly ) that no engineer would be stupid enough to design the mechanism to make is impossible to get that clip on so I put the swivel on the back and the clip was a piece of cake. THe door opened once after that then stayed locked
Do you have any tips on how to get the clip on or do I need to get my oriental neighbour over again with the tiny fingers

OK got it, I had to balance the clip on my finger to get it on the other side, unfricken believable, it is a tossup between the clip and the seoond nut on the door handle as to which one would make you do a rain dance in the garage, BigG I pity you doing this all the time

Funny thing is I read all this bixchin' and moaning (J/K) about things that once I found difficult and now are second nature. But I remember my first heater core and rusted trailing arm bolts and how I thought I would never get through it..... still have no regrets.
Sometimes I get so wound up in the business that I forget that I am lucky to make a living beign around so many cool cars. Maybe not so nice when they first come in, but certainly when they leave the shop. The stories the customers share are amazing. Current work includes 5 C-2's, 2 of which are original owner 'Vette's! I cringe at the thought of not doing what I do every day...maintaining a piece of history.
